A frozen shoulder or shoulder impingement is a game changer, and not in a good way. The pain is crippling and it’s not because of a lack of surgery. 😉
.
The issue with a frozen shoulder is that it builds on a mechanical disadvantage, let me explain.
.
As the shoulder approximates closer to an overhead position, it is working against an elevated position. Now what happens is that the supraspinatus tendon gets dragged along the underside of the acromion and begins to swell and reflexively, you raise the shoulder. Yep, and this just creates more of a monster because it becomes a self propagating cycle. Which is why most shoulder impingement treatments fail.
.
✅ The shoulder needs to be ‘turned off’ before anything else.
.
✅ Then it needs to have all the restricted tissue actively worked through a safe range of motion.
.
✅ Finally it needs to adapt to a load under variability without stressing the already inflamed and painful tissue.
.
Here’s what to do:
.
1️⃣ PVC Press
2️⃣ Roller Wall Slide
3️⃣ Banded Internal Rotation
4️⃣ Partial Turkish Get Up
.
Go and do. Smash you later!
